You are an attorney and can not solicit estate planning clients directly by law, right?

It is hard to believe how the law works! Imagine you are a Realtor, and you are forbidden to send mailings to solicit business from homeowners!

Well, this is exactly how it works for an attorney working in the field of probate. An Attorney is forbidden to send direct mailing to a person who needs probate assistance. Instead, they must be contacted by the individual client first. However, they can send general mailing on a mass campaign setups to solicit business or the revert to newspaper or yellow pages or billboard advert. That is one reason for so many Yellow pages law firm advertisements.

Attorneys’ lack of ability to contact probate clients by law provides a great opportunity for you as a Realtor to network with them by referring clients to them. Many of our Real Estate Agent subscribers from Re/max, Century 21, Coldwell banker or Keller Williams work closely with probate attorneys.

They understand about 20% of the Successors in our database need to initiate and complete probate process in order to own or sell real estate properties. They ask a Real Estate attorney if they would consider in return for them suggesting a probate client to consider talking to them for their probate needs if the attorney would do the same for them. In other words, if an attorney has a client that need to sell some real estate properties. The attorney would also suggest his or her client to contact that particular Realtor to obtain one more opinion of value or services that the Realtor has to offer.

Do not underestimate the value of this professional relationship for your Real Estate business. This relationship is could mean thousands of dollars a year for you as a Realtor as it is for the Attorney.

As a Realtor, you should consider creating such a network for your business. Here is how you could consider planning this. In the weeks ahead look for a couple of probate attorneys in your area that would consider giving you a 30 minutes free appointment to discuss a professional business networking relationship. Tell the attorney that about 20% of people that you contact using our services are in need of a probate attorney and you are willing to suggest to them to contact him or her for their probate fillings and you would like to know if they could do the same for you.

Make sure you are very clear and specific as to the fact you are not looking for any compensation from them as it is against the law.
